Middle School – English & Language Arts (ELA) Teacher

As a Middle School English Language Arts Teacher, your primary responsibility will be to teach a love for literature, language, and critical thinking among middle school students. You will play a crucial role in developing students’ foundation for future learning providing tailored instruction in English, writing, composition, literature, and critical analysis. This position requires a passion for teaching, strong knowledge of the content area, effective classroom management skills, and the ability to create engaging and interactive lessons.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development & Design:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive and challenging English Language Arts curriculum that aligns with school guidelines.
  • Integrate diverse literary works, writing exercises, and critical analysis to inspire a love for literature and language.

Classroom Instruction:

  • Deliver engaging and student-centered lessons that promote active participation and critical thinking.
  • Foster effective communication skills, both written and verbal, through a variety of instructional methods.

Assessment and Feedback:

  • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, parents, and colleagues, supporting academic growth.

Individualized Support:

  • Develop and administer assessments to measure student understanding and progress.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work to support academic growth.

Technology Integration:

  • Incorporate technology into the classroom to enhance learning experiences and prepare students for the digital age.
  • Stay informed about educational technology trends and tools.

Classroom Management:

  • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and active engagement.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to create an optimal learning atmosphere.

Parent Communication:

  • Maintain open and proactive communication with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and upcoming events.
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and meetings as needed.

Extracurricular Involvement:

  • Participate in school-wide events, and extracurricular activities, that contribute to the overall development of students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a related field
  • Strong curriculum development and instructional skills.
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Prior teaching experience at the middle school level is preferred
  • Passion for teaching and helping young people succeed
  • Strong curriculum development and instructional skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • State teaching certification or license

Physical Requirements:
