Wilson® Reading System 

at The Jones-Gordon School

At The Jones-Gordon School, we believe that reading instruction should be grounded in what research tells us works—especially for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. That’s why we’ve integrated the Wilson Reading System® (WRS) into our school day for students in Grades 2–8, as well as for high schoolers who need continued support in foundational reading and spelling skills.

Wilson® is a proven, structured literacy program based on the principles of the Orton-Gillingham approach and aligned with the Science of Reading. It’s designed specifically for students who have not learned to read and spell effectively through traditional teaching methods. Its explicit, systematic, multisensory, mastery-based approach gives students the tools they need to decode words, build fluency, and become confident, capable readers.

At JGS, Wilson® isn’t just a tool—it’s part of our identity. As the only Wilson® Accredited Training Partner School in Arizona, we not only deliver daily Wilson® instruction to our students but also help train educators across the world in this highly effective method. This reflects our deep commitment to advancing literacy—for our students and for learners far beyond our campus.

The Wilson Reading System® is one of only a few programs officially recognized by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) for meeting the IDA’s Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading. These standards define what highly effective reading instruction should look like—especially for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences.

IDA’s endorsement reflects Wilson’s unmatched rigor, fidelity to the Science of Reading, and commitment to equipping educators with the knowledge and tools they need to change lives. This recognition places Wilson®—and JGS as a Wilson® Accredited Training Partner—at the forefront of evidence-based literacy instruction.
