Position Overview
A Math Tutor supports students by delivering personalized, strengths-based instruction that builds mathematical understanding, confidence, and independence. The tutor focuses on helping students with diverse learning profiles develop strong problem-solving skills and a positive relationship with mathematics.
Tutors foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel understood, encouraged, and capable of achieving academic success.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small-group math instruction tailored to each student’s learning profile and strengths.
- Use student-centered and differentiated teaching strategies to help students grasp mathematical concepts.
- Break down complex math concepts into accessible, structured steps that support diverse learners.
- Encourage growth mindset, resilience, and perseverance when students encounter academic challenges.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet evolving learning needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, learning specialists, and families to support each student’s academic and personal growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong background in mathematics
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, education, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with students with learning differences such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, or ADHD is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and individualized learning strategies.
- Current fingerprint clearance card
- Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and creatively
- Patience and adaptability when working with diverse learners
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of executive function support strategies is a plus
