WHAT & HOW: With everyone spending more time at home over the summer, we felt it was important to give students the opportunity to have fun and stay connected with their classmates. That is why we are starting Game Club! Held weekly, meetings will consist of playing virtual group party games through an online gaming service called jackboxgames.com. Students will video chat with the other club members and the club supervisor (Mike/Sarah) will display a code that allows students to join the games. If you have experience with Kahoot, joining the game is very similar to taking a quiz in that a code entered into the website allows access to the content. After all club members are logged in, we will start playing! We plan on offering a range of age-appropriate games that can be played by individuals of all skill levels. Some of these games involve drawing (Drawful 2, Civic Doodle, Push the Button), other games involve making jokes or silly arguments (Bracketeering, Joke Boat, Dictionarium, Role Models, Survive the Internet). “Winning” in the games is typically determined by a group vote. All selected games have “Family-Friendly Filter” settings and have been screened for age-appropriateness.
