About our High School

Jones-Gordon’s fully accredited high school program is designed—from start to finish—to meet the individual needs of each student.  At Jones-Gordon, High School is personalized, not standardized. Our fully accredited program is intentionally designed to support students through small classes, expert instruction, and deep relationships that empower growth. High school isn’t one-size-fits-all – it’s built around you.

The JGS High School offers…

  • Smaller setting, typical experience
  • Strong academics
  • Close friendships & community
  • School spirit
  • Travel programs
  • Sports & extracurriculars
  • Deeply committed expert teachers
  • AP Capstone Diploma Program

The JGS High School is not…

  • An alternative high school
  • A special education school
  • An online or virtual school
  • A therapeutic or behavioral program
  • A 1:1 instructional model
  • A ridged or standardized learning environment
  • An isolating experience for our students
  • A school soley for dyslexia or learning differences

We know our students.

Here, learners uncover their strengths, build confidence, and rise to meaningful academic challenges. Whether the next step is college, career, or something in between, our students leave prepared—not just to succeed, but to thrive with purpose and self-assurance. We cultivate an environment where students feel seen, supported, and challenged.

At the heart of our high school experience are teachers who are not only experts in their craft but also deeply committed to building relationships that last a lifetime. These educators balance high expectations with a genuine passion for helping students develop a love of learning. They don’t just teach content—they make it real and relevant, connecting lessons to life beyond the classroom. By fostering trust, curiosity, and intellectual rigor, they inspire students to rise to challenges, think critically, and grow with confidence. It’s this unique combination of expertise, empathy, and engagement that makes our high school faculty truly exceptional.

Talk about their High School Experience.

“We transferred our daughter from Paradise Valley Unified School District to Jones Gordon School in the 2nd semester of her freshman year. The exceptional quality of teaching and unwavering support from teachers and staff completely transformed her. She changed from a shy, insecure, and struggling scholar into an outgoing, independent, and highly confident critical thinker, who excelled at her schoolwork and sports. She graduated from JGS in 2024 with top grades, was awarded a significant scholarship, and seamlessly transitioned to the University of Utah. She is successfully pursuing a degree in neuroscience. Her time at Jones Gordon completely changed her life. Leaving JGS, she had the confidence and academics needed to go out-of-state, join a sorority, and dive deep into her passion for science.  Most grateful to JGS”.

We raise the bar.

We follow neuroscience, which shows that adolescents need more, not less, sleep!  Therefore, our classes begin at 9:00 AM. Our curriculum includes rigorous core academics, creative electives, and collaborative, real-world problem-solving.  Students engage in personalized, inquiry-based learning that challenges them to think deeply and work together. From conducting advanced research to developing solutions for real-world issues, they build the skills and confidence needed to succeed as thoughtful, capable global citizens.

To ensure our coursework is accessible to all learners, instruction is thoughtfully designed, building on students’ strengths while helping them understand and navigate obstacles. Our program fosters critical thinking, resilience, and real-world problem-solving, holding students to high expectations without ever compromising the depth or integrity of the curriculum. Through multimodal, project-based instruction, students learn how they learn best, replacing stress and struggle with creativity and confidence.

Every student at the JGS High School receives explicit instruction in executive functioning — planning, time management, goal-setting, and self-advocacy. Some students receive even more in-depth instruction via our FLEX program, addressing challenges in reading, writing, math, and/or academic content areas.

Our holistic approach to education means that the development of a growth mindset, self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making is tantamount to academic learning. We partner with Yale University to offer RULER© social-emotional programming, schoolwide. At JGS, our high school students develop strong emotional intelligence, equipping them with the skills they need to succeed in the world in/outside of the classroom.

Jones-Gordon empowers students to take control of their own educational journey by making them active participants in their high school and postsecondary plans.

The classroom & beyond:  Electives, Athletics & Afterschool Clubs

JGS offers a wide array of confidence-building electives, athletics, and extracurricular activities that grow and adapt based on student interests. Our thoughtfully designed electives—ranging from Leadership and Emotional Intelligence (EQ) to Guitar, Community Garden, and Visual Arts—encourage students to explore passions, express creativity, and develop real-world skills in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

Our NCAA-approved athletic programs promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth, while our interest-based afterschool clubs—such as Student Government, Speech & Debate, and Role-Playing Games—offer meaningful outlets for leadership, collaboration, and social connection.

These varied opportunities help students build resilience, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging. Whether presenting in class, leading a club, scoring a goal, or creating something uniquely their own, JGS students are constantly learning how to communicate, lead, and contribute. This holistic experience prepares them not just for academic success, but for confident, capable futures—in college, career, and beyond.
