RULER Education Director
With JGS since 2015
Michaela joined our expanding team in 2015 and immediately became a valued member of our staff. She holds an undergraduate degree in Social Work from NAU and a Master’s Degree from the University of Washington, also in Social Work (with an emphasis on Children, Youth, and Families). Her graduate internship in a public school classroom provided the opportunity to focus on social skills training and culture development, individualized to student needs. Having this experience and specialized training in school-based environments, Michaela has brought a wealth of information and energy to our school, including Yale University’s RULER Approach as a foundation for our emotional intelligence programming. She has been a catalyst in defining our core values and implementing schoolwide instruction that aligns with the JGS culture of kindness. Michaela teaches “to empower students to be their best selves, achieve self-sufficiency, and to be proud members of the community.”
