The Jones-Gordon School (JGS) is a one-of-a-kind, independent private school located in Paradise Valley, AZ.
Founded in 2010 to fill the need for an educational environment dedicated to capable students who learn differently, JGS built its reputation by employing outstanding educators and using state-of-the-art, research-validated curricula.
We cultivate the strengths of high-potential students in grades 1-12 across the Phoenix metropolitan area who have dyslexia and related learning differences. Position Overview
We are looking for dedicated and passionate Interventionists to join our educational team. The right candidates will collaborate closely with students needing extra support in their academic journeys, guiding them to overcome challenges and build their confidence.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the Intervention Leadership Team and faculty to identify and address individualized reading needs.
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students with reading challenges, utilizing evidence-based practices and specialized techniques.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement differentiated instruction strategies that support the literacy needs of diverse learners.
- Develop and implement individualized reading plans for students, monitoring progress and adjusting interventions as needed.
- Stay abreast of the latest research and educational trends in reading instruction to inform and enhance teaching practices.
- Provide and/or assist in professional development, providing teachers and staff with effective reading strategies and interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, interventions, and assessments.
- Provides cohesive, timely feedback to parents of regular intervention groups.Facilitates parent-interventionist conferences on school conference days and intermittently as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Reading, or a related field.
- Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) certification and/or Wilson Level I Certification preferred but willing to provide Wilson Training
- IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- CPR/First Aid Certified
- Training in multisensory reading and writing instructional practices.
- Proven experience as a Reading Specialist or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of literacy development and reading assessment tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
