The Jones-Gordon School (JGS) is seeking a High School Math Teacher who is passionate about teaching students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. Position Overview

The High School Math Teacher will design and implement engaging math instruction that is tailored to students with language-based learning differences, including dyslexia. The ideal candidate is a creative, student-centered educator who thrives in a collaborative, interdisciplinary teaching environment and values project-based learning that makes math come to life for students. The teacher will help students gain a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, develop problem-solving skills, and build confidence in their math abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement evidence-based math instruction that is accessible for students with diverse learning needs, including dyslexia and other learning differences.
  • Utilize differentiated instruction, thematic units, and project-based learning to engage students and make math relevant.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to create cross-curricular learning experiences that integrate math into real-world contexts.
  • Foster a supportive, student-centered classroom environment that encourages a growth mindset and promotes confidence in math.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the school community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, mathematics, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience teaching high school math or a related field.
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction strategies and best practices for students with dyslexia and other learning differences.
  • Strong classroom management skills with a strengths-based, student-centered approach.
  • A commitment to collaboration, innovation, and professional growth in an inclusive school setting.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
    • Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
