Student Teacher
A student teacher is an individual who is pursuing a teaching degree or certification and is completing a supervised teaching experience in a classroom setting.
Responsibilities:
Planning and delivering lessons:
- Student teachers may be responsible for planning and delivering lessons under the supervision of a mentor teacher.
- They are required to develop lesson plans, create learning objectives, and assess student learning.
Classroom management:
- Student teachers assist with maintaining classroom order and discipline, including creating and enforcing rules and procedures.
Grading and assessment:
- Student teachers are responsible for grading student work and providing feedback to students and their families with the support of the mentoring teacher.
Professional development:
- Student teachers will be required to attend professional development sessions and participate in ongoing training and support to enhance their teaching skills.
Collaboration and communication:
- Student teachers may work closely with their mentor teacher, school administrators, and other educators to coordinate instruction and ensure that students are receiving high-quality education.
Support student learning:
- Student teachers provide individualized support to students who are struggling with the material or need extra assistance.
Participation in school events:
- Student teachers will be asked to participate in school events and activities, such as parent-teacher conferences, school meetings, and extracurricular activities.
Working Conditions:
- Well-maintained and equipped classrooms
- Work hours may vary, including some evenings and weekends for extracurricular activities and school events
- Teach in an environment with smaller class sizes

Physical requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
