March 2015: JGS 3rd grader Ella Morelli recently testified before the AZ state legislature on behalf of SB 1461 (signed into law on March 26, 2015!) which provides greater support for students with reading impairments, including dyslexia. Belying her youth, Ella spoke elloquently about her own experience with dyslexia and how it has affected her life. (Watch Ella’s speech on YouTube!)
In addition to her political efforts 😉 Ella is an accomplished ice skater and actor. In fact, Ella won 1st place in a recent figure skating competition (Fiesta Skate), and was just awarded an acting grant. WOW! Ella’s most impressive accomplishment this year, however? Tackling chapter books! Go Ella! 🙂

Also instrumental in getting SB 1461 passed, Grace Taskinsoy (who attends Scottsdale Prep), has been a long-time On-Track Tutoring student. Grace is the perfect illustration of the success that students with dyslexia can achieve when given the right education, tools and resources. Way to go Grace!
